Required: 19-20 credits, 12 credits upper division

Required Courses:

Foundational Courses (3–4 units):

Take one course from:

  • SOC 101: Sociology in Everyday Life  

  • SOC 103: Contemporary Global Issues

  • HNRS 120: Social Science Seminar

Research and Fieldwork (4 units):

Take one course from:

  • Take SOC 421: Applied Sociology

  • SOC 440: Ethnographic Methods

Electives – 3 Courses* (12 credits, at least 8 units upper division):

  • SOC 210: Intro to Gender Studies

  • SOC 200/300: Sexuality and Society

  • SOC 318: Immigration in the Global Age

  • SOC 360: Racial and Ethnic Relations

  • SOC 370: Deviance in US Society

*Out of 3 elective courses one elective may be chosen from:

  • SOC 214: Intro to Public Health

  • SOC 321: Medical Sociology

  • SOC 330: Death and Dying

  • SOC 334: Sociology of Education

  • SOC 340: Families and Intimate Relationships

  • POLS 207: Contemporary Issues in Public Policies

  • POLS 317: Politics of Community Development

  • COMM 311: Intercultural Communication

  • CRIM 410: Substance Abuse

  • CRIM 430: Gender, Race, Ethnicity and Crime 

Internship is recommended. Does not apply to sociology electives.
