Degree Requirements

Required: 68 credit major (32 Liberal Studies major, 36 Graduate Education credential).

Department Approval Required. (Two-Year Transfer Program.)

Liberal Studies Courses

Required: 68 credit minimum.

Required Courses

  • LSED 402: Theories of Teaching & Learning

  • LSED 404: California History for Teachers

  • LSED 406: Principles of STEM Education

  • LSED 408: Children's Literature and Composition

  • LSED 410: Comprehensive School Physical, Health, and Wellness Education

  • LSED 412: Integrated Arts Pedagogy

  • LSED 414: Culturally Responsive Pedagogy

  • LSED 416: Educational Measurement and Assessment

Students pursuing the bilingual credential may need to take another language requirement

Summer study may be required in order to ensure Gen Ed Requirements are met (if not already met with transfer credits)

  • EDLT 500: Foundations of Teaching

    or EDLT 504:Theories and Policies of BilingualýEducation and Bilingualism

    • Only students pursuing a bilingual certification should take EDLT-504

  • EDTP 520: Leadership/Law Diverse Class - Elementary

  • EDTP 521: Literacy/Language Diverse Class - Elementary

  • EDTP 522: Teaching I: Planning Methods Content - Elementary

  • EDTP 523: Introduction to Clinical Fieldwork - Elementary

  • EDTP 511: Assessment in a Diverse Classroom - Elementary

Required Clinical Practice Courses

  • EDTP 525: Teaching II: Advanced Planning/Methods - Elementary

  • EDTP 540: Clinical Field Work - Elementary

  • EDTP 512: Multiple Subject Pedagogy Capstone
