Liberal Studies

The Liberal Studies major is designed to prepare students to teach elementary school and earn a multiple subject California preliminary teaching credential. There are two pathways to achieve these goals:

The Traditional Program

The traditional Liberal Studies Program consists of four years to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies and two semesters of graduate study through the Department of Learning and Teaching to secure a California preliminary credential. Standard admission procedures apply. Transfer students are welcome.

The Integrated Program

The integrated program provides a course of study that allows qualified students to complete their Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies and their Californian preliminary multiple subject credential in four years. Students must be approved by the Director of Liberal Studies after University admissions for this program.
