Liberal Studies
The Liberal Studies major is designed to prepare students to teach elementary school and earn a multiple subject California preliminary teaching credential. There are three pathways to achieve these goals:
The Traditional Program
The traditional Liberal Studies Program consists of four years to earn a degree and two semesters of Graduate Teacher Preparation to secure a California preliminary credential. Standard admission procedures apply. Transfer students are welcome.

Courses
LIBA 325. Liberal Studies Seminar. (2).
This course is required of all liberal studies
majors at CLU who have completed three semesters
in the ADEP liberal studies program. Successful
completion of this course will partially fulfill
the elementary subject matter competence
requirement. Students will also be introduced to
the California Academic Content Standards for K-6
and the Teacher Performance Expectations (TPE)
required in all teacher preparation programs.
LIBA 402. Theories of Teaching and Learning - Capstone. (3).
This course is required of all liberal studies
majors. Students will also explore theories of
teaching, learning, the assessment of learning
and the influence of those theories on content,
methods and classroom environment, including the
use of technology and their application in
improving academic achievement for all students.
Fieldwork required. Prerequisite: PSYC 200.
